Why Cornerstone? Bridges, National Historic Sites and even homes may bear a plaque saying “circa yyyy”. These plaques may be blocks in granite, marble or bronze, etched with the year of completion and are referred to as the “cornerstone” of the structure to identify its place in history. One monumental figure is known as the “Cornerstone” of all history. Jesus Christ’s birth separates B.C. (before Christ) from A.D. (“in the year of our Lord”). This suffix is a reminder that all dates are based on His historical birth, as proclaimed in an abundance of prophetic writings. Jesus Christ is identified as the “Chief Cornerstone”. When He was 33 years old, Christ was crucified on a Roman cross. He died and rose from the dead, marking the most important date in all of recorded history. We use the small marker, “33 a.d.”, in our logo, to memorialize the date Christ completed His work here on earth by paying the price for the sin of all mankind. Choosing to use this name “Cornerstone” and highlight His place in history, regularly reminds us to build our lives on a rock solid foundation. We strive to conduct ourselves in a way that points others to recognize Him as the hope for all mankind. |
